She is from North Eastern part of our country, she dedicated herself for sports and she worked hard for 5 years after her failure in Rio Olympic 2016 and this time her hard work paid her with a Silver Medal in Tokyo Olympic 2020 narrowly missing out Gold Medal to China's Hou Zhihui. .
THE SUCCESS STORY
She was born on 8 August 1994 in Nongpok kakching, Imphal (Manipur). She belongs to village where peoples use to do their work on its own, a day when she was collecting firewood and she was able to carry that heavy bundle, then she realised about her strength. She was 12 years old at that time.
From that day she started focusing on weightlifting and getting better results. She continued with her passion and determination and won her First Silver Medal in Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014. That medal brought her recognition and gave her strength to improve herself and getting stronger results. Then she qualified for Rio Olympic 2016 but fails to perform in Olympic. This lose made her strong and in 2017 World Weightlifting Championship, she won Gold Medal for herself and India. After that she performed well in Commonwealth Games 2018 (winning Gold in that event) and Asian Weightlifting Championship 2019 (winning Bronze in that event).
After these two wins, she was totally focusing for 2020 Tokyo Olympic and her hard work gave her what she wanted. Our Prime Minister talked to her and Congrats her for winning Silver Medal for India and he also wished her for good future.
WE THANK YOU FOR GIVING US A REASON TO SMILE.
